Questions from dentists like you.
Choosing the right technology for your practice is a significant decision. Below you’ll find answers to common questions about Dental Symphony, our products, AI capabilities, getting started — and what makes us different.

The Dental Symphony Difference
Our founder, Dr. Tom Cockerell, has been a practicing dentist since 1979 and spent decades frustrated by software that reflected technical development needs, but not the way dentistry is truly practiced. He founded Dental Symphony on a single conviction: that clinical workflow should be the central inspiration for how a practice runs.
That conviction shapes every product we build — from the way ePatient collects and organizes patient information at intake, to the way Management Suite carries that information forward through every step of care, designed around how dental teams think and work. It also shapes the details that only come from real experience: a system built by practicing dentists that anticipates the exceptions — the moments that don’t fit the standard flow — so your team isn’t left scrambling when they arrive.
Dental Symphony launched ePatient in 2013 and has been serving dental practices for over a decade. Management Suite, our full practice management platform is the realization of the vision Dr. Cockerell had when he founded the company.
Practices using our products report improved efficiency, reduced administrative workload, smoother patient workflows, and stronger coordination between clinical and front-office teams. Many also experience meaningful time savings, better organization, and a more positive day-to-day experience for both staff and patients.

Our Products
Dental Symphony offers two products. ePatient modernizes patient intake and front-office workflows while working alongside your existing practice management system. Management Suite is our all-in-one cloud-based platform that runs the full practice — with ePatient built in as the foundation.
We support solo practices, multi-location groups, DSOs, and dental education programs. Our platform is designed to scale with your needs, whether you’re managing a single office or multiple locations.
Yes. Management Suite and ePatient are fully cloud-based, meaning your team can access the platform securely from any device without managing local servers, backups, or on-premises maintenance.
Both ePatient and Management Suite include Maestro, our built-in generative AI documentation assistant designed specifically for the language and workflows of dental practice.
Maestro responds to natural language dictation or typed input and generates clinical notes, operative notes, postoperative instructions, referral and patient correspondence, chart documentation, and more, with output always editable before it’s finalized.
Our development team is currently working to expand Maestro’s capabilities further within Management Suite — integrating it more deeply into the clinical and practice analytic workflows. Sign up for our newsletter for exciting updates!
Yes. The patient-facing side of the platform is available in Spanish, making it easier for practices to serve Spanish-speaking patients through intake, forms, and communications.
In addition, Maestro AI can be used to translate referral and patient correspondence and reports into most languages.
Yes. Patient privacy, data security, and compliance are foundational to how we build.
Our platform uses AWS secure server hosting, and includes robust safeguards to protect sensitive information and support healthcare best practices, while providing secure 24/7 access for both patients and staff.
Please review our HIPAA information page for additional, regularly-updated information on compliance.
Switching & Implementation
Yes! ePatient was built to integrate into existing practice management software. We are happy to discuss your specific integration needs during your demo, where our team will help evaluate your current setup and determine the best approach based on your workflows and goals.
Switching practice management software can feel overwhelming, which is why our team provides guided onboarding and hands-on support throughout the transition. We work with you to ensure training, setup, and implementation are as smooth as possible — so your team feels confident using the platform from day one.
For practices that want more guidance through the transition, we offer dedicated consultancy support — a single point of contact who gets to know your practice before the software is installed, and stays with you through go-live and beyond. This service is available for an additional fee.
Our support team will work with you to understand what information you want to pull over and help you make that transition.
And here’s the good news — if you’re an ePatient customer, most of that data already resides securely within our systems, making this an easy transition.
Pricing & Getting Started
It depends on the product. ePatient is available month-to-month, giving you flexibility without a long-term commitment. Management Suite requires a two-year contract, but monthly payments are built in from the start.
Pricing varies based on practice size, selected features, and implementation needs. Because every practice is different, we provide custom quotes after learning more about your goals and requirements.
We offer guided onboarding, training resources, and ongoing customer assistance to help practices get the most out of our platforms over time. Our support team is made up of real people who answer the phone and know the product — not a chatbot (though of course, Maestro AI is available 24/7 right on your device to help with questions as well).
The best way to understand Dental Symphony is to see our products in action. Schedule a free demo call and we’ll walk you through ePatient and Management Suite, answer your questions, and help you figure out which solution fits where you are now.
“By far, I find the mass perio charting feature to be most efficient and clinically useful with my patients. It allows me to chart an entire mouth in seconds!”
